Columbia Valley Nordic SKI Trails

Nearly 150km of groomed cross-country ski tracks

Lake Windermere Whiteway

30 KM OF CROSS-COUNTRY SKI TRAILS AND ICE SKATING

The iconic Lake Windermere Whiteway has held the Guinness World Records for longest skate track since 2014. At over 30km in length, this multi-use trail offers ice skating and groomed skate and classic cross-country ski trails.

The Whiteway provides winter sports enthusiasts with an incredible facility, adding to the already abundant list of winter activities available in the stunning Columbia Valley. It offers two access points: one at Invermere’s Kinsmen Beach and one at Windermere Beach.

A season pass is an affordable way to show your support for this world-class Columbia Valley experience and is available for purchase online.

A $5 day use donation helps support trail maintenance and is payable via tap or in the cash box at the Whiteway entrance points.

Lake Lillian Whiteway and Johnson Trails

9 KM OF CROSS-COUNTRY SKI TRAILS, 3 KM of SKATING

The Lake Lillian Whiteway, located just 10 minutes outside of Invermere, is a gorgeous lake-based 3km classic and skating skiing trail. Since 2010 the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club has maintained this trail network, including the Johnson Trail across the road. These trails are groomed for classic and skate skiing; thanks to the elevation these trails are generally available earlier and for longer throughout the season.

A $5 day use donation helps support trail maintenance and is payable online or in the cash box on the welcome signs. Seasons Passes and 6-day Punch Passes are available to purchase online too.

The hut is provided and maintained as a community service by the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club with generous support from Panorama Mountain Resort.

Hale Hut

This cozy warming hut, located on the Delphine loop of Panorama’s Nordic trails, was built in the Fall of 2000 and named in memory of Dennis Hale, an avid local skier.

Dennis’ passion for cross-country skiing, especially on the trails at Panorama led to the current hut being built and named in his honour. Construction of the hut was the result of many hours of volunteer work from members of the Ski Club during the Fall of 2000 and Spring of 2001, with funding for the project coming largely from the Hale family of Invermere. Currently, the Hale hut is maintained by the Ski Club in conjunction with Panorama Mountain Village and Greywolf Golf Course, who supply the propane, all winter long, for the heating of the hut. Caretaking of the hut is an ongoing process for the Club, and its volunteers, who supply firewood for the outside fire pit and ready the Hut for use each Fall by making sure the facility is clean and ready for the winter season. The Hut is also a popular destination for hikers and mountain bikers in the summer season as well. Witnessed by the visitor book and its comments the Hale hut has been enjoyed by thousands of people over the years. The Club hopes that this facility will continue to enhance the outdoor experience of many more people in the future. Please enjoy the hut responsibly!
